The Gas Test Atmospheres course provides training on the skills and knowledge required to test the atmosphere to determine if it is safe for the proposed work. Participants will gain the skills required to select, use and maintain electronic gas detectors.

Who should attend

The Gas Test Atmospheres course is suitable for new and experienced workers who are required to use gas detector equipment, particularly individuals who are required to undertake gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area, underground coal mines, confined spaces or any other workspace.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

You can apply for recognition of prior learning for this unit of competency. You will need to supply information on your work history and samples of work, and may need to undertake assessments and/or an interview to determine whether you have met the competency standards. RPL is conducted on a one-on-one basis. Contact us to discuss your RPL options.

Course delivery and assessment

The Gas Test Atmospheres course is delivered in a face-to-face classroom environment and includes both theory and practical exercises. Participants will be required to complete a written assessment and practical assessments. On successful completion of the course and assessments, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
