The Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Underground) course provides training on the skills and knowledge required for working in underground mine operations, following completion of the Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Surface) course.

This course provides the additional nationally recognised competency needed to meet the Queensland Government Mining Inspectorate's Recognised Standard 11 requirements for underground mine induction.

Who should attend

The Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Underground) course is suitable for new and experienced workers; however, experienced workers may wish to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL). See below for more information.

Note: Each mine site will have its own induction requirements. Please check with the mine operator before enrolling in this course.

Pre-requisites

The Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Surface) course must be successfully completed prior to enrolling in this course.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

You can apply for recognition of prior learning for this unit of competency. You will need to supply information on your work history and samples of work, and may need to undertake assessments and/or an interview to determine whether you have met the competency standards. RPL is conducted on a one-on-one basis. Contact us to discuss your RPL options.

Course delivery and assessment

Participants will be required to complete written and practical assessment over the duration of the course. On successful completion of the training component, participants will be issued with a Statement of Completion, along with an ID card.

In addition to the training component of the course, participants will be required to complete an on-site verification through their workplace within 6 months of the training. On successful completion of the on-site verification, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment, in addition to their final ID card.
