Hey Bulloo do you want less place names?
After consulting with locals, Bulloo Shire Council is proposing to remove four local place names of Dynevor, Norley, Bullawarra and Nockatunga.
The proposed changes may help end confusion in the delivery of postal and emergency services, easing the navigation stress for both residents and visitors.
Local feedback to the Bulloo Shire Council is that multiple place names within the region are causing confusion when navigating the area so the consultation invites locals to have their say on consolidating them.
The changes being put forward are that current localities known as Dynevor, Norley and Bullawarra be consolidated under Thargomindah, and the current locality known as Nockatunga will be consolidated under Noccundra.
It is hoped that if these changes are made it will help people who are less familiar with the local area to find these locations, including supporting emergency services in their response to better protect Queenslanders.
All interested community members are invited to have their say on the proposed changes at: www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/place-names/proposals-decisions/decisions. Submissions close on 24 January.
