New Flagstone locality boundaries approved
3 October 2017
Department of Natural Resources and Mines Regional Manager South Region Ken Sherwood said a proposal to alter the existing boundaries of the localities of Flagstone, Jimboomba and South Maclean and create the new localities of Glenlogan and Riverbend had been approved.
“The changes define new locality boundaries to the east of the Brisbane-Sydney interstate railway line within the UDA,” Mr Sherwood said.
“Glenlogan recognises the former location of Glenlogan Park thoroughbred stud farm on Lance Road and the name Riverbend is based on a prominent geographic feature in the Logan River at the southern end of that locality.
“Reviewing and defining locality boundaries within the UDA ensures boundaries reflect the future structure of the community and ensures minimal address changes for new residents.”
Mr Sherwood said the decision to alter the boundaries and create the new localities came after consultation with the local community and stakeholders.
“In July 2016, Logan City Council suggested these changes to cater for the existing and future residential growth of the Greater Flagstone UDA over the next 20 years,” Mr Sherwood said.
“The Department of Natural Resources and Mines (DNRM) sought the views of stakeholders including Logan City Council, the Public Safety Business Agency, Australia Post, Telstra and the Flagstone Community Association and invited public comment over a two-month public consultation period that ended in July 2017.
“The proposed changes, which were widely promoted in the local community, were supported by the majority of submissions received by the Department.”
