Recording a death with the Titles Registry

If a person's name appears on a Queensland title, you may need to notify the Titles Registry when they die so that their property, mortgages and leases can be dealt with.

You can get general information on the forms lodged with the Titles Registry following the death of a person by answering a few questions below. These are not designed to cover all possible situations or provide an exhaustive list of all forms which may be required following a person’s death.

To answer the questions you will need to information about the interest held by the deceased person (e.g. sole owner, joint tenant). This information is available on the property title. Check with your solicitor for details or buy a title search from us online.

Please confirm requirements with your solicitor before submitting your forms to the Titles Registry.
