Expressions of interest - areas for exploration

We encourage investment in new exploration projects through regular releases of areas for exploration.

You can request that an area be considered in upcoming rounds of competitive tendering by submitting an expression of interest (EOI).

Nominated areas received by the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy will be considered for inclusion in future land releases.

Terms and conditions

  • EOIs will be treated as commercial in confidence to the extent permitted by law.
  • The supporting information requested is not mandatory. However, providing detailed information will help us decide whether to consider the nominated area for release. We may contact you to request additional information.
  • Areas of interest do not need to be contiguous; however a separate EOI should be submitted for each non-contiguous area.
  • Nominating an area does not guarantee that it will be released. Should the area be released, the submission of an EOI does not oblige you to bid on it.
  • All EOIs we receive will be automatically acknowledged by a confirmation email. It is your responsibility to contact us if you do not receive this email.
  • All EOIs will be allocated an EOI Submission ID which is to be used as a reference number when communicating with the department regarding your EOI.
  • The department will advise if your EOI has been successful after assessment has been concluded.
  • We may cancel, suspend or vary this process at any time without notice.
